Swap Mouse Buttons 4 & 5 - Fedora 15

Just want to know how I can swap these buttons around. For me they are backwards (how I use them, personally).

I generally use them to navigate forwards and backwards in the browser, but I find they are swapped from how I have it set in Windows, and would like to know how to swap them!

Thank you in advance!

Its funny, the forums don't recognize that I'm posting from Fedora, just says "linux" heh.

Re: Swap Mouse Buttons 4 & 5 - Fedora 15

yum install xinput

xinput list
#to retrieve the ID number involved

xinput get-button-map IDnumber
#to show how they are currently mapped

xinput set-button-map IDnumber 1 2 3 5 4
#to switch 5 and 4.

I don't believe the ID numbers persist... especially if you add/remove keyboards and mice. However, the names shown in "xinput list" will persist. In the command syntax you can replace the IDnumber with the name, ex: xinput get-button-map "Synaptics USB TouchPad"

Then, set up a script to auto-run when you log in.
