I've done the following:
1. edit /etc/inittab #change runlevel to 3 and save
2. edit /boot/grub/grub.conf #add/edit "rdblacklist=nouveau" to the end of the kernel line, this will stop the system from loading nouveau driver. save and reboot.
3. System restarts, log in as root, go to your download folder where you downloaded Nvidia driver and install GCC, kernel-devel*, yum -y install gcc kernel-devel*
4. Run nvidia installer as 'sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-260.19.36.run
after that message pop ups -
NVIDIA Software Installer for Unix/Linux
ERROR: Unable to find the module utility `lsmod`; please make sure
you have the package 'module-init-tools' installed. If you do have module-init-tools installed, then please check that `lsmod` is in your PATH.
module-init-tools installed.
checked all known forums for this issue, no solution.
Please help.
My video card is NVIDIA GeForce 9300M G 256MB VRAM
OS: Fedora 14
Driver downloaded from NVIDIA official website
