Not a Rant, just a Request

Hello all. Running Fedora Gnome 14, and loving it. Like the speed, the faster boot times, YumX loads faster, Firefox smokes any other browser. As I said, this is not a rant, it just makes me scream every time I boot up. It's that log in screen, you see. It looks, for all the world like a bullet hole through thick glass. Who is the genius that thought that up?

Now for the request. Can I change the log in screen? I tried erasing GDM and using KDM, and even tried to install some other log in screens, but never could find them, or install them. What gives? When I was running 13, if I changed the log in screen in KDM is installed, it didn't hide from me someplace.

Can anyone help?

You can but off hand I don't know how. I'd need to research how it's done. I believe that I've seen a few threads on this subject lately in this very forum.

Re: Not a Rant, just a Request

I have always edited the KDM screen layout either by using the "Login Manager" module in KDE's System Settings, or by installing and editing files in `/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/themes/'.

You might also need to edit the lines "UseTheme=true" and "Theme=..." in the [X-*-Greeter] section of `/etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc'.

(I'm still using Fedora 12 at present, and KDE 4.4.5, so there may have been some slight changes moving to KDE 4.5.3.)
