Dolphin crashing in fedora 9

Hi,

Sorry if this has been dealt with somewhere else. I searched and couldn't find a topic about what I'm experiencing with Dolphin. Here's what I get when I check the version of Dolphin that I'm running:

Qt: 4.5.2
KDE: 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4)
Dolphin: 1.2.1

Here's some info about the machine I'm running on:

Fedora release 9 (Sulphur)
Kernel 2.6.27.25-78.2.56.fc9.i686 i686

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6420 @ 2.13GHz
CPUs: 2
2000MB RAM

When I try to launch dolphin, most times it never launches. Sometimes I get a core dump. The most recent of these looks like this:

Application: Dolphin (dolphin), signal SIGABRT

I just can't figure out why this is happening. If anyone has any idea how I could fix this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

thanks,
Ed

Re: Dolphin crashing in fedora 9

Fedora 9 is past end of life, that wouldn't be a problem most of the time but KDE has been updated a number of times since your version was installed. Current KDE in F12 is 4.4.2. Unless you have a good reason for sticking with F9 I would recommend updating.

Moved to "EOL" section.

EDIT: You might want to look and see if KDEForge has any updates laying around (read: "abandoned" but functional and perhaps fix the issue) in their updates and/or updates-testing repos.

Good Luck,
V
