If you are having problem with a PC that doesn't support boot from USB I would recommend
PLoP Bootmanager.
It can be burned to CD or floppy, and starts a menu that allows you to select the boot partition you want.
I keep a copy with me when I fix friends PCs, it saves messing around with their bios when I want to use fedora to check hardware, network or access windows files. I keep a copy of AVG on my live USB to scan windows systems.
