Could Installing an HP Print Drive BE any more irritating?

So ALL I want is a photosmart8250 Driver for Windows, XP and I Have to download 80 (that's EIGHTY) megs worth of crap! Are you kidding my butt! Why can't they just be NORMAL and have DRIVERS - (minus) CRAP.

AFTER I download it, THEN it EXTRACTS itself for like TEN minutes before I can even start the even MORE annoying installation!

AND they try to add THREE entries to msconfig startup. AND I still can't even find the driver it allegedly installed.

FAIL.

You mean....there was a virus with the drivers?

Sometimes, they have a driver only download, that leaves out all the management software.

On the bright side, my new all in one works quite well with hplip 3.9.8. Though their (HP's) Mac OS X instructions for Snow Leopard were all wrong.

Ok, to answer your question---yes, it could be more irritating if it didn't work afterwards.

Agreed, well at least it is working now. It's an HP Photosmart8200 Series. Built into to Linux I might add.

Built into Vista too - kinda scary.
