Fedora freezes

Every now and again Fedora 11 just freezes. At first I thought it was Firefox but a couple of times I just had a text document open.

I have two boxes on one KVM switch and "tap-tap" the scroll lock key to switch between computers. Sometimes when switched back to Fedora box it is frozen. Nothing works and I must push the power button to get it to reboot.

What causes Fedora to freeze and is there something I can do about it?

Are you using the xorg Intel video drivers?
I have freeze-up anytimte that I attempt to watch a video file, or use anything that utilizes OpenGL.

For example, if I attempt to startup GLX-dock (cairo-dock w/opengl) *bam* it hangs solid with the exception of my mouse pointer. I have to power-cycle to reboot.

It's related to my Intel video driver, or so I have been told. No workarounds have been noted yet.

I have a pro Savage DDR card (pretty old), and it is freezing a lot here too.

What I do is this:

ctrl+alt+f2 puts me in a console. Just a console. From there, I log in using my username/password.

Then, I type startx -- :1

Whenever it freezes, instead of powering off, I type ctrl+alt+f2 until I am back in the console. From there, I type ctrl+alt+f7 (or f8), and voila, I am back in gnome, and it is okay again.

It is a nightmare, but it'll have to do for now (upgrading has gotten me nowhere), but whenever the computer freezes, the console is probably informing em of a GTK error.
