Hi,
I just installed nvidia driver (173.14.20) so that I can enjoy the compiz desktop effect
in fedora 11. Now, that part is working nice, but I can only set the maximum refresh
rate to only 50-51 Hz through System > Preferences > Display.
I know I can go way up to 75 Hz through Applications > System Tools > NVIDIA X
Server Settings. However, here, even though I can set the refresh rate to 75 Hz,
it is no different than the 51 Hz.
So, I am figuring either the driver (173.14.20) can only support up to 51 Hz for
my graphic card, or I may not be doing something right. Well, without the nvidia
driver, I can set my rate up to 75 Hz.
For your reference, I have Samsung SyncMaster 906BW and GeForce FX 5700 LE.
By the way, viewing the screen at 51 Hz looks not as brighter as at 75 Hz and less sharper.
Basically, I want to be able to view my screen at its optimal refresh rate at 75 Hz
with the compiz effects.
Thanks.
