F10 New Kernel Installation Takes One Hour

Last night, I used "yum update" to download and install kernel 2.6.27.25-170.2.72.fc10.i686 on my F10 box, along with a number of other updates that were available.

Download time was about 4 minutes for all the updates/new installs that were available for my box, including the new kernel. But at update/install time, yum hanged at installing the new kernel for about an hour. Eventually, update/install completed, and upon reboot, the new kernel was reported as installed. With the exception of the new kernel, the updates/installs only took a minute or so to complete.

Why is the kernel install taking an hour to complete?
