Upgrade Success

Just want to say I have done upgrades from FC9 to FC10 and now from FC10 to FC11 and I have not had any hiccups! So it can be done with great success. I am a relative newbie and don't really know the command line operation. I am more a windows graphical person. I find FC is a great piece of software and alternative to Windows!

LenL, I just wanted to say thanks for posting this. It gives hope for those of us who have had 'issues'. And it shows that sometimes people do stop by to say 'good job' rather than reporting a problem.

Hope is good. I'm happily back to F7 and will try to install F11 again after I get the rsync figured out and get my F7 setup over to my external usb HDD; just in case.

@CiaW-
You were quite right about the F11 netinst.iso - I began custom partitioning and had two problems: only 5 of my 8 existing partitions were found and identified, and when I attempted to delete the LVM nonsense (I have no LVM) I was warned that all data on all partitions would be lost.

So, I backed up to the select language screen and rebooted - fortunately no damage was done to my existing installations. Apparently I did not reach the point where the partitioner begins messing with the drives, but I have the feeling I came pretty close. Without your warning (http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showpo...09&postcount=8) I might well have gotten into trouble - thanks again.

Success

This forum is a great place to get help and so most of what is posted are issues.

I just wanted to share some good news for those who were wondering if they could do an upgrade successfully after seeing admonitions on this forum about doing upgrades.

BY the way my computer has Windows on it and I find I am using FC11 about 90% of the time. It boots much faster, and surfs the net much faster. I'm really thinking about ditching windows. The only thing that is stopping me is I use MS ACCESS and until I can port MS ACCESS files over to something simlar I have to keep Windows.
