I have been running Fedora Core 2 for almost a month now and I finally found some time to install the Java plugin and now whenever I go to a page with Java applet it crashes.
I am using Mozilla Firefox and I have it set up in my user directory. I followed the directions and downloaded the j2re-1_4_2_05-linux-i586-rpm.bin file and then I unpacked it and moved the libjavaplugin_oji.so file into
the Firefox plugins directory. I also followed the advice of one website and removed the libnullplugin.so from the plugins directory.
The set up is like this: /home/steve/firefox-installer/plugins
I also did some troubleshooting and moved the libnullplugin.so back into the directory with the libjavaplugin_oji.so file and it still crashed. I have been using the latest Firefox browser, 1.0PR, for the past week without any problems until now. Firefox works great with the Flash plugin and I haven't installed any Firefox extensions.
Any and all advice would be helpful. I do some Java programming and it is important that I get it to work in Fedora.
Thanks,
Wild
