No sound from X-Fi Fatality with Fedora 10

I have no sound from my sound card listed above. I've downloaded the appropriate drivers from Creative and ran the install process. I still get no sound. I really don't want to go back to onboard sound because I get lots of static. Any help is appreciated. If it helps, I recently installed the akmod ATi drivers. From what I heard is that it rebuilds the kernel every startup. Could this be my problem? If so, how do I get rid of them? Another thing I was thinking is a hardware conflict between the sound card and my onboard sound. How do I check this and fix it if it's a problem? I have onboard sound turned off from Bios.

Thank you

akmod-fglrx doesn't rebuild the kernel at every start up, it rebuilds kmod-fglrx if one doesn't exist on the system or if the kernel is updated and a new one isn't installed.

Make sure in the motherboard BIOS settings, the onboard sound is set to "Disabled" instead of "Auto". It caused me problems with my computers. That may be the cause.

Thanks for clearing up what akmod-fglrx does. I've disabled onboard sound in Bios already. I followed the directions in the forum linked above prior to making this post.
