Cannot enable "desktop effects" with ATI drivers

What's the trick to enable "desktop effects" with the ATI drivers?

When I click on "enable desktop effects" I get "unable to enable desktop effects" as a result.

It worked before with X.org drivers.

Also, I noticed the fonts on the SeaMonkey menu bar (File, Edit, View, Go, Bookmakrs, Tools, Window, Help) are really really tiny, maybe 6 points, and hard to read...

Thanks,
FC
