You don't seem to be using font smoothing (antialiasing). Is there a particular reason for that?

System > Preferences > Look and Feel > Appearance, click on the Fonts tab and then click Details. Select a "Smoothing" option other than "None".

thanks for your quick reply..

No I do not enable antia-aliasing font.
The only thing I like from windows is their tahoma 8 pt font with anti-aliasing disabled.

KDE 4 or gnome is perfectly clear with this config..

But still have discrepencies for gtk apps ...
Firefox is same as kde but not OO and gimp

Ok I removed all gtkrc files and every configuration

to begin from scratch and I fixed the OO issue but the gimp issue still remains..

It seems related to hinting...

If Anyone has some advices ??

Another things is that the gtk apps for which I have the font issue has some transparent menus over kde windows...
Maybe a clue to difrentiate th gtk apps firefox fom gimp??
