Read-Only Filesystem?

Hey all,
I haven't used Linux in general for about 3 months. I've tried alot of different distros, but FC is my favorite due to the ease of installation and detecting of hardware. Anyways, I just finished installing FC2, and logged into my user account. The screen is very small, I can't see "cancel" or "ok" buttons on the bottom of system config panels. Anways, I tried expanding my desktop by going to a higher resolution, but everytime I rebooted, it would stay the same. I thought maybe it was something with X, so I tried using yum to install X.org. Didn't work, in fact I can't do anything that invovles writing to the HD. Yum said something about a read-only filesystem. So I think my problem is because I can't write to the HD, whatever settings I put in cannot be saved to the X11.conf file. Any ideas? I don't mind a re-install, but how can I make sure my HD is no longer write-protected or so it seems? Thanks alot!
Erik

Post your /etc/fstab file so we can see what filesystems you have.
