Right click on an Icon, Open with, Other !!

When I want to open, say, a pdf file in pdf reader (acroread) should be able (after right clicking the icon) to select other and then select acroread and click on "open al files of this type with this in future". System then updates the sys config and I should be able to select a pdf file for opening and it opens in Acrobat. It doesn't, well it does the first time, but not after that. When I right click again on this file the "open all files etc' is no longer seletced.

Can someone please help me with a solution.

BTW I do this with a few file types, thus it is a nuisance not having the feature...........

Hello:
If I correctly read what you posted?

Right click on the PDF file and then select Properties, then select the tab
Open With
Then Select Acrobat Reader or add it and select it if it is not present and you should be good to go.

sorry if I confused you, but what I want is for pdf's etc to open for all time is the programme I selected. In other versions of FC if one selected 'other' then checked the 'remember apps.....) check box, all pdf's should open in the seleted reader. It doesn't work on my sys.

are you talking about opining a pdf from firefox ?
