changing xorg settings in fedora 9

I need to set the vsync to 60hz in order for my monitor to work but the new xorg automaticly sets this for you. I tried changing the xorg.conf file, but xorg just ignors the changes I made. How do I change the settings in the new fedora 9 xorg?
