hp dv2000

my hp dv2000 has had many problems and this is a new one, my bloody volume control buttons are not working that includes quickplay, dvd, skip, play, stop, mute...
and my headphone jack does not work when i plug headphones in it, the internal speekers dont cut out

I have the same laptop model, but in mine sound just doesn't work..let alone the control buttons.
I ran the sound card detection utility and I can hear the sounds played, but for some reason, I can't get sound out of amarok, audacious, vlc, etc...
What kind of drivers are you using for the audio device?
