GParted, sda1

Trying to dual boot. Gparted gives me this error:

What do I do?
I could probably edit the partition through the Windows installation disk, but I don't know if it would make me lose my data or not. The 143GB partition has Windows Vista on it.

Are you using the latest gparted ISO? Anyways even you use gparted or any other partition manager tool whether Windows app or whatever I would make a backup of important data. You could have a power failure, power glitch, blow a power supply in the middle of the process and loss it all. Just worst case.

The easiest way to resize/shrink your Vista ntfs partition is with Vista's "disk management tool". Shrink the ntfs partition to a size that will leave "unallocated free space" for your Linux install.

OK. I will try that then.
I did that before, and I messed up... not fun.
Hopefully I get it this time.
