cd boot via PXE

Hello,

I am maintaining several PC's.
I take from every PC an image-file.
I do this by booting from a DOS-boot CD or a windows live CD (bart PE).
When I boot on DOS-boot CD I save the partion image on an other partition of the PC.
When I boot on Bart PE, I save the image also on an other partition of the PC, or on an external USB-drive.

I want to get rid of these CD's.
I want to do this via PXE-boot.

And mayby I can save the images on the directly server. (NFS or FTP ? or other ? . . )

Is there anyone who has some experiance in doing this?
PXE boot with a bootimage of a live CD ?

thanks,

Yeah we use a similar system here at work.

unfortunately the basis of it is the windows version. However I've added menu's in the same way you would on a linux environment to boot a live environment..

take a look at pxes

I'll make this real simple. If you just want to boot Bart PE over PXE: http://www.google.com/search?q=bart+pe+pxe

Really, there are enough talks about that and enough information.

Second, g4u /g4l are two other very quick options for PXE. They have PXE images already made so no extra thinking there, which will allow manipulations on the disk, partition or network level. g4u and g4l both use FTP to upload/download images to the client PC either whole disk or partition based. g4l gives more options, but g4u is faster for doing basic imaging (at least for me).

Good luck.
