Unhappy Problem with WiFi connectivity in FC8

Hello,
I've got a Toshiba Equium EA60-157 and have just installed FC8. Kernel is
2.6.23.1-42.fc8. I'm trying to establish communication with my WiFi network
WAP (a D-Link DI-154).

I have a D-Link DWL-G650+ PCMCIA card and have installed the relevant
ACX drivers and firmware but this is unreliable generating a stream of tx errors
and warnings that it's too hot. I can sometimes get a connection using this card
and a DHCP allocated IP for the lap-top but it doesn't last too long.

I've also got a generic* USB Stick WLAN card (no manufacturer's name) that
incorporates the Zydas chip. I've installed the relevant firmware and this will
associate with WAP just fine and appears quite clearly in the WAP status display
with the correct MAC, however both using the FC GUI facilities and the "ifup"
command I cannot get a DHCP IP address.

* Part Number 73-TMWBS-002

Any suggestions would be most welcome.
