Shortcut to open terminal

Hi, I was wondering what the best way was to make a shortcut to open up a terminal. I know with some desktop managers like Compiz fusion you can bind any key you want to any command that you might wish, such as opening a terminal.

However, I don't have a nice video card on this computer so haven't put anything like that on. I just installed Fedora 7 and under preferences ->personal->keyboard shortcuts I do not see any option to bind a key for the terminal.

Are there any good solutions besides tricking the keyboard shortcuts through linking?

You can have it on the right-click Desktop menu by installing:

yum install nautilus-open-terminal

It also add an 'open here' option in the Nautilus file manager

That option will not show up if desktop effects are enabled.

Also, the OP didn't mention whether he was using Gnome or KDE, so I assumed Gnome

Edit: Err, isn't it past your bed-time?

Ahh yes, TangledWeb, you're right. I had this same issue months ago. It's the Desktop effects which mess it all up. If I disable them I can choose a binding key for the terminal.

So, it's a toss-up between eye-candy and functionality Over here that would be a no-brainer
