Problems with sound driver (Direct Sound AC97 Audio)

Hi to everybody,
I've got a problem on my pc with sound driver
I've installed new fedora 7 on it, but the sound didn't work.. if i click on volume panel (gnome), it tells me that there aren't no plugin of Gstreamer installed, but it's not true!

The problem it's that the device seems to be invisible
Here it's my motherboard description :
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...2_no=&cat3_no=

Today, i've try to install alsa driver (that they were previously installed by yum i think), following this instruction of Direct Sound AC97 Audio :
http://www.alsa-project.org/main/ind...Module-via82xx

but when i try to launch alsamixer command, it gaves me this output :
"alsamixer: function snd_ctl_open failed for default: No such device"

Anyone can help me?
Thank you!

Mandro

Sorry, but i can't figured it out!
I've search for same problem and i've see other answers, but everyone has Soundcard section in output from command lspci
This is mine output :
00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8363/8365 [KT133/KM133] (rev 02)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8363/8365 [KT133/KM133 AGP]
00:07.0 ISA bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 [Apollo Super South] (rev 22)
00:07.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586A/B/VT82C686/A/B/VT823x/A/C PIPC Bus Master IDE (rev 10)
00:07.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 10)
00:07.3 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 10)
00:07.4 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 [Apollo Super ACPI] (rev 30)
00:0a.0 Ethernet controller: D-Link System Inc RTL8139 Ethernet (rev 10)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G400/G450 (rev 04)

First of all, there is a way for view my soundcard here or maybe the aswer is that, since my soundcard is integrated on motherboard, it doesn't appear here (in lspci command)?

I've got a similar problem, although I did get it to work on ONE boot... but after rebooting again it no longer detects..

my device is:

00:14.5 Multimedia audio controller: ATI Technologies Inc IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 80)
and a lspci -ns:
00:14.5 0401: 1002:4370 (rev 80)

packages for alsa:
alsa-utils-1.0.14-1.fc7
alsamixergui-0.9.0-0.3.rc1.fc6
alsa-lib-1.0.14-3.fc7
alsa-lib-devel-1.0.14-3.fc7

under Hardware - Sound, it was listed as ATI IXP AC97, now it says ATI IXP AC97 (not connected)

Not sure why it worked on one boot, but not now....

running kernel:
2.6.22.5-76.fc7

it's a laptop Acer Ferrari 4006

any help would be awesome!

Thanks all!

Kasp

ps. For those with same problem, when I updated my kernel is when it started to work.... but after a reboot it stopped.. so you may want to try a kernel update?
