public IP & private IP

hi all
file transfering speed b/w private and private IP is high.
but that of private and public IP is low.
why?

Cuz LANs are almost always faster than internet connections.

Ive found not being behind a router does a lot.

but for optimum speed network to network is the best.


the speed depends on your provider and current speed.

as of right now im on a 1.5 - 2.0 mbs getting decent speeds. well decent enough to run a server.


it also depends on your upload speed.


to enhance stop some services that also use the net.

To improve your speed from private to public IP you need to buy more bandwidth, especially your upload speed which for most people (here in the UK anyway) is a fraction of your downlaod speed.
I have 2Mb down and 20K up i.e 10/1 ratio. Virgin media are now offereing 20Mb down but they won't tell you what your upload speed is.....
