Putty Crashed - Can I reconnect to my session?

Hi,

After years of supporting Windows and being dismayed by what I see coming in Vista, I've decided to take the plunge and start learning Linux.

So far so good - I'm enjoying the challenge and trying to get my head away from the habit of certain 'Windowsisms' that I keep trying falling back on.

Now to the meat of my problem...

I've been using a putty session to connect to my Linux box via ssh and tinkering away just fine. After setting off a yum update, my putty session crashed and I had to re-connect. Now I have no idea what's going on on the yum process but can see that it's still running from 'ps -e'

Is it easier to just kill the process and start again? or can I in some way re-connect to the original session?

Cheers
Niels

As it is a yum update, I would let it run. Interrupting package installs is not a good idea.

In the future you can use screen to start a session. You can detach a session and resume it later when you reconnect.
