I run Drupal. There's nothing special to making Drupal work with your email if your server is already set up to be able to send outgoing email.

Are you able to send email from the command line? That will help you make sure sendmail is configured correctly. You can use the 'mail' command to send email, and add the -v switch to see if your server accepts it.

Especially if you are on a dynamic IP, you should set up the smart-host feature of sendmail so your server sends outbound mail through your ISP. Even if you have a static IP, you could send it through them and while it adds another hop to the delivery route, you will probably get less bounces that way.

I still dont think my email is working correctly. Its not that big of a deal but I want to set it up eventually. I need to study the m an pages on the mail util.

Anyway to tie in the root emails to evolution or another email client?

Going pretty well, I'll be ready to share soon. Drupal is really cool, but they should provide a little more info when you first download it. It looks like many modules are not compatible with 5.x and of course I chose the newest version so many modules that I wanted are not available.

I'm still struggling with dealing with the whole root, regular user and permissions. Im getting better at the command line in linux but copying directorys and files from the command line has been difficult as well as setting proper permissions on files.

The one thing that is killing me is that my regular user that I use all the time can't modify my www directory. I suppose I need to adjust the rights but am not too sure how to do the appropriate chmod command or in file properties. Again, I know RTFM but I just wanted to share my exp.

Also, VNC server occassionally will go a little wacky. It will be fine for a few days and then when I go to log in I get the greeter and enter login credentials but when it goes to log in and draw the desktop if just stalls and will sit there. If I open another session and sign in as a different user it works. If I reboot it will start working as normally. I think on the next build im going to try x11vnc.

What else? I'll be ready to share soon, but am getting things cleaned up first.

My current domain is http://degicank.com

I'm gearing up to host it myself on this drupal server so its going to be a complete overhaul. Its currently hosted by yahoo. I'm still debating on doing my own email server or using gmail / google apps.

I'm in the market for a p3 800mhz chip. This server is currently a p3 800 with 512ram. Its ok speed but not blazingly fast or anything. The motherboard has a slot for another processor so I'd like to get another one or even a pair of faster chips. Once I add another processor is there any configuration changes needed to set it up for fedora?

I've also setup munin and got it working which is really cool.

Last thing when i ssh into the machine to transfer files from my xp machine in filezilla I only get about 8kps speeds (local network too!).

I run Drupal for a club, and a blog.

You can change the ownership of the files under www, to your user for example, as long as they are readable by apache. And have the selinux context, which they should.

huh? anywho the server is now live at degicank.com

stop by and let me know what you think. I'm working on clean urls and how to do subdomains with apache, or do I need to use somthing else to do the subdomains??

here's my setup. I have domain registration from yahoo. i have a static ip at home. i just can't figure out how to configure apache to use subdomains with my setup. i suspect it may have somthing to do with my dns setup at yahoo:
