FC5 - how to avoid installing gnome?

I've got FC5 on CD, first disk. When doing the install via anaconda I tell it not to use gnome, to use KDE. But always it starts copying over gnome stuff I don't want then it asks me for the 2nd CD. Since I know full versions of linux with tons of software (like knoppix) can come on a single CD I have to assume this is the gnome crud.

Is there a workaround for this bug? I've tried it several times but everytime I uncheck "Gnome" and check "KDE" it still installs a bunch of gnome stuff.

Also, is it possible to even get a working KDE desktop setup (minimally) from just the first #1 ISO without having to download the other 3?

When I get asked for the 2nd disk it is always installing X11.org files. If you do a minimal gnome install it uses the first 2 CD's. As I'm not a KDE person i'm not sure which CD's you'll need for a minimal KDE install.

Not sure, but I believe some gnome files are mandatory even with no Gnome Desktop Environment.
I am a KDE user but have chosen to install gnome as well since it is the Fedora default, and I use many gnome apps with KDE.

I will strip down the install as far as possible and see if I can get it to install from just the first CD. As long as I have a package manager I can pretty much add the rest as I need it.

Keep in mind, the package manager is dependent on yum and internet. To go through installs from disk you need to create a local repo from the CDs or reconfigure yum to use the CD drive.
