We recently changed our companies email host and unfortunately our Fedora 4 server (file, print, and dhcp services) could no longer send out status reports or backup reports (amanda).
After reading many helpful threads on the subject (thanks to all!) I finally configured the sendmail smarthost option and enabled masquerading as well. Which works great!
Reports from user Amanda are coming through fine. However I have several cron status reports (disk usage, etc) that are sent out as user root. And these emails are not being masqueraded. Hence they get kicked back with the "sender domain must exist" error. (I have the lan set up on an internal domain name.)
Any thoughts? I've tried setting up an alias using my company provided email address for the root, and I recieve emails with no problems. Still no luck on sending mails as user root.
What am I missing?
TIA
