FC1 "Install exited abnormally"

Help please!

My old hd died so I am currently re-installing all my software on a replacement WD160gb drive. I have WinXP installed on a 120gb partition and am trying to install FC1 on the unpartitioned space.

I have trouble getting it to boot from the cd, but when I succeed, all goes well untill the file installation. It gets to "X server started successfully" and the next line says "Install exited abnormally" and after that "Sending termination signals". Everything shuts down and I'm told to reboot

How do I get past this?
Thanks
Alan

Try turning the system totally off for a few seconds, the try starting the installation over. I have had that issue before and this has worked for me in the past.

Talk about aggravating! I feel for you. It sounds like there's a problem with the automatic configuration of your X11 configuration. I have no specifics, but it could be the mouse configuration, a poor guess about the video card by the software, it's hard to say from here. Is the your system newer or old?

If you're game, you can try to install without having the graphics turned on by default- enter 'linux text' at the installation spash window - which should provide a bootable system with which you can then work on getting the X11 working. If you choose this path be sure to make a boot disk when asked at the end of the installation - if the gear is older your BIOS might not be able boot a kernel that is installed in a partition that is beyond the 1024th cylinder (likely the case given the partitioning you've described)...

Someone may want to remind me here, but wasn't there a startup option of linux VGA to force using the VESA setup??

Also I seem to remember during my setup, that any mouse movement durig the initial startup caused things to crash. Why? I dunno.
