X server failed to start after update

Hello

I did yum update last night and updated my kernel from 2.6.16-1.2096 to 2.6.16-1.2111, plus a whole bunch of other stuff. After the update, I booted into the new kernel and noticed that my nvidia drivers didn't start, so I installed the nvidia drivers from livna and rebooted. After I rebooted, I got a message telling me that my X server did not start properly. If I boot from the older kernel, everything seems fine. Anyone else having this problem, and know how to fix it?

If it matters, my computer specs are as follows
Asus Z71V laptop
Intel Pentium M 1.7GHz
1 GB ram, 80 GB hdd
nVidia Geforce 6600 Go

Many thanks.

hmm, sort of strange if you added the new kernel-module. I would try that process over again and remove the old kernel module (for nvidia of course) and the new one. Then go through the process of re-installing the new one when you are booted into the new kernel. Make sure you have the kernel-devel package for your new kernel as well.
