Importing GPG keys

Hi all. Just finished installing Core 5 on another computer, so the first thing I do is head over to stanton-finley.net to follow his setup guide. Don't get too far. While setting up for an update, I need to import GPG keys from freshrpms and dries. In a terminal, as root, I type (paste):
rpm --import http://freshrpms.net/packages/RPM-GPG-KEY.txt
After a long pause the terminal returns this error:
error: http://freshrpms.net/packages/RPM-GPG-KEY.txt: import read failed(-1). Segmentation fault
So I try the dries GPG key, like this:
rpm --import http://dries.ulyssis.org/rpm/RPM-GPG-KEY.dries.txt
Again, after a long pause the terminal returns this error:
error: http://dries.ulyssis.org/rpm/RPM-GPG-KEY.dries.txt: import read failed(-1). Segmentation fault

Wondering if anyone would care to comment on this as I have no clue what to do about it. Thank you.

Are you connected to the 'net. For example, can you browse web pages?

Segmentation faults usually indicate a hardware/memory issue. Do you have any other hardware related symptoms? Are you behind a switch, router, or enterprise firewall that would preclude connecting the sites in question?

I am behind a router and a network hub. This computer IS one that has been giving me trouble. It's a spare that is just a toy. Memory IS suspect in this box. Here's the scoop on this box. It's a reasonably modern Biostar board with 512 meg ddr memory. There are three hard drives in it. I've never been able to install any Linux distro onto primary master. Always got some error regarding partitioning. Tried changing memory and video card, removing all other cards such as modem, network card and sound card. No change. I've installed Windows on the same drive with no trouble. Today I installed Core 5 on secondary master. Install was flawless. That's where it's at. And here I am now trying to import the keys. Oh, and I successfully browsed to Google and Fedora Forum on the box, as well as stanton-finley.net.

Update:
I keep trying to import the keys and now the freshrpms key was imported successfully. The dries key won't play nice yet.

I'm stumped. You could edit the .repo files in /etc/yum.repos.d/ and change the line "gpgcheck=1" to "gpgcheck=0" in those .repo files and then try to proceed. The keys will then not be required for installation and updates from those repositories.

Since I'm the impatient sort, I'll do that and move forward. Really appreciate your help Stan. Thank you.

I'm having the same issue with dries only. All other repos are fine. I tried the gpgcheck=0 and it worked.

Apparently http://dries.ulyssis.org/ is down. I can't connect to the site in a browser. This is probably the root of the problem.

Try "rpm --import http://apt.sw.be/dries/RPM-GPG-KEY.dries.txt" as root.

It's a good idea securitywise to download these key files once and save them locally, since every time you download there's a small chance the key could have been recently replaced by a fake. It's not until a few days go by without any news of a server breach that you can really be sure the key is good. After you do a clean install, you can re-import the keys using your local copies and not take the risk again.
