Installed vsftp - breaks vnc on xinetd

I installed ftp server by following Stanton Finley's setup. After re-boot, it worked like a champ although now anytime I try to log in remotely on vncviewer or tightvnc client, you see the gdm windows flash up and then close immediately. Secure log states that it xinetd as started vnc1024 which is the proper module, but it gives no message as to why it is closing.

No other log comments on it either?? Has anyone else seen this? I can log in on ssh without a problem. I even removed my hosts, network and iptables modifications that Stanton suggested and none of that made a difference.

Any thoughts are appreciated as so far 1 hour and I can't correct it although I have ftp!! Some consolation I guess. LMAO

Jeff
