usb joystick worked in fc4, but not in fc5

my saitek cyborg 3d gold usb joystick worked fine in fedora core 4.

yesterday i upgraded to fedora core 5, and the joystick no longer works. were there changes from fc4 to fc5 that could explain this? any suggestions for what to do to fix it?

i suspect there's something missing in my kernel, but i don't know how to fix it. i did upgrade my kernel to 2.6.16-1.2080_FC5, because (i thought) i had to in order to install the new nvidea driver (the one released on 7 apr 2006).

does anyone have a usb joystick working on this kernel? or on the distribution 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5 kernel?
