    Songbird F12

Trying to install Songbird on F12.

Followed typical instructions. When executing ./songbird SELinux denials appear.

Denial is based on stacked memory. Changed global settings to allow unconfined executable stacked memory.

Now nothing happens at all. No AVC denial, nothing.

I haven't tried Songbird on F8, 9, 10, or 11 (previously known builds) maybe this is a problem with F12?

Anyone else have any luck installing Songbird?

I just installed it on my Fedora 12 laptop. All I did was download the .tar.gz file and extract it. A couple more steps and it was up and running.
    Code:
    sudo tar xvfz Downloads/Songbird_1.2.0-1146_linux-i686.tar.gz
    sudo chown -R glenn:glenn Songbird
    cd Songbird/
    ./songbird
There were a ton of errors shown in the terminal. This one was repeated several times.
    (songbird-bin:23883): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin '/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstmpegdemux.so': /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstmpegdemux.so: undefined symbol: gst_structure_id_get
Note that I'm one of those users that turns SELinux off. Therefore, I get no warnings of any sort with SongBird.

After trying that I get these messages (the first repeated) and still no product.

    (songbird-bin:13234): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin '/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgsth264parse.so': /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgsth264parse.so: undefined symbol: gst_adapter_prev_timestamp

    (songbird-bin:13234): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin '/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstdv.so': /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstdv.so: undefined symbol: gst_tag_list_new_full
././songbird-bin: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/gst-0.10/gst/_gst.so: undefined symbol: gst_task_pool_get_type
Could not initialize GStreamer: Error re-scanning registry , child terminated by signal

I will be messing around with it more this weekend.

Per chance are you using F12 64Bit? I'm using the 32Bit version.

Oh no it's 32 bit =P. Running it on a P4 2.8GHz from back when I was in high school... 2004/2005 ish.

The main reason I wan to get Songbird on here is because of all the DRM music I had from Zune player. Someone mentioned that Songbird would play those files. I don't know, if you tell me right now that it doesn't I won't even bother with it anymore =P

No idea what it will or won't play. The SongBird web site will probably elaborate on that. Do you have other music players working? Are all the media plugins installed?

Rhythmbox works but not WMA or other DRM'd files (which is really a pain in the arse!)

I think I have the necessary plugins installed... I guess I'm not used to *having* to use Linux for my day to day audio needs so kind of new to the spectrum.

Is there a convenient list that you know of?

I know I just installed Gstreamer prior to trying with Songbird.

There's some good multimedia help here, http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/mjm-fedora-f12.html. Look at Install MP3 Players and Install Media Players.
