    Picasa

    Hi folks

I installed Fedora 11 on the day it was released and everything is working great - except Picasa. Picasa runs okay but when you try to sign in so you can upload photos to your web albums it fails. The specific error is:

    HttpOpenRequest failed (12157) - https://www.google.com/accounts/ClientAuth [13]

I've done a lot of Googleing for a solution. It seems that a lot of people have this problem but there is no solution that I can find.

I have tried uninstalling, manually removing all associated configs files, installing the latest stable version, installing the beta version, etc, etc, but I always get the same error. Everything else internet related is working fine and my username and password are definitely correct - they work when I log in to my Google account.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

    DB.

For anyone else who encounters this problem then good news - solution found.

If you've not already done so then install Wine. Now all you have to do is copying the wininet.dll.so file from /usr/lib/wine/ to /opt/google/picasa/3.0/wine/lib/wine/ overwriting the one that's there. Picasa should now work

    Cheers.

I have the same problem and I don't want to use Wine for anything. Even when I did use Wine for Dreamweaver, it didn't run very well.

Doesn't anybody know how to fix the glitch in Picasa?

done with Fedora 11 - too many problems

I tried to log in and had error that Gnome could not load.... I've had numerous problems with Fedora 11, printer working only if I turn it off and on. Trouble with installs, upgrades breaking things. Fedora 11 is just too unrealiable to use anymore. I've tried to like fedora and understand it's qwerks, but there is too many qwerks!

I've backed up files to my other hdd running Mandriva 2009.1. it has been very reliable and a better distro for my needs. As good as this forum is, it can't replace a reliable distro. I may give Fedora 12 a try when it comes out. Hopefully it will be better than this one!

Anyone have trouble running Picasa as regular user? I can only run as root. No sudo either.

If you install picasa 3, you should not have any problems
it is available with the latest autoten for f11 + f12 + omega or direct from google

Hmm here Picasa 3 doesn't work on Fedora 12 x86_64

It seems I'm always with bad luck on this

    Same problem "HttpOpenRequest failed (12157)"

Downloaded the rpm from google, installed all dependencies, copied the wininet.dll.so from /lib32/ and still no luck. Also deleted the picasa folder to retry but nothing.

I don't have this file in /lib but in /lib32.

    Any ideas?
