    Question how to set default sound card for alsa?

    Hi.
    I can not set default sound card for alsa. It detects my sound card and I can play audio with xmms when I config that to use alsa and my intel sound card, but other applications which use default alsa sound card, and also pulse audio, can not play any sound.
    How can I do that?

    Best,
    Adrin.

    I'm surprised no one answered. Have you added the following to /etc/asound.conf ?
    defaults.ctl.card 1
    defaults.pcm.card 1
    defaults.timer.card 1
    Here, card 1 is the card corresponding to the sound card on my system. I found this information using
    less /proc/asound/cards
    and obtained
    0 [U0x46d0x809 ]: USB-Audio - USB Device 0x46d:0x809
    USB Device 0x46d:0x809 at usb-0000:00:12.2-6, high speed
    1 [SB ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI SB
    HDA ATI SB at 0xfe7f4000 irq 16
    2 [HDMI ]: HDA-Intel - HDA ATI HDMI
    HDA ATI HDMI at 0xfe9e8000 irq 19

    Question

    actually this happens when I install alsa-driver-conexant and hsfmodem driver. I reinstalled my fedora system and then reinstalled these packages. Now my default sound card is selected correctly in pulsaoudio. Here I place related files:

    Code:
    $ cat /etc/asound.conf
    #
    # Place your global alsa-lib configuration here...
    #

    @hooks [
    	{
    		func load
    		files [
    			"/etc/alsa/pulse-default.conf"
    		]
    		errors false
    	}
    ]
    Code:
    $ cat /proc/asound/cards
     0 [Intel          ]: HDA-Intel - HDA Intel
                          HDA Intel at 0xf6fdc000 irq 21
    Code:
    $ cat /etc/pulse/default.pa
    #!/usr/bin/pulseaudio -nF

    now what's your idea? my problem now is that I have not the pcspkr attached to kernel, but I hear a beep when I press backspace in nautilus. I think default sount card for alsa is now set wrong. How can I set gnome to use pulse?

    Thanks
