Upgrade you linuxwacom v. 0.7.4 driver to more powerful v. linuxwacom-0.7.8-3.
No Need recompiling kernel modules by hand.

I was following these steps:
1. remove linuxwacom packages
1. Upgrade my kernel to 2.6.22.5-76.fc7 with full set of packages.
2. Install linuxwacom both packages linuxwacom and linuxwacom-developer
3. Download the most recent linuxwacom driver package from
http://linuxwacom.sourceforge.net/index.php/main
page to your home directory and unpack it:
[fnhi@fnhi Desktop]$ bunzip2 linuxwacom-0.7.8-3.tar.bz2

[fnhi@fnhi Desktop]$ cd linuxwacom-0.7.8-3
[fnhi@fnhi linuxwacom-0.7.8-3]$ cd prebuilt/
[fnhi@fnhi prebuilt]$./uninstall
[fnhi@fnhi prebuilt]$./install
Now I got upgrade fo my linuxwacom driver form 0.7.4 to 0.7.8 without recompiling those modules by hand.
And you can use wacomcpl GUI tool for making configuration: pressure, mapping, etc. in GUI interface ;-) You can use this command line for runing wacomcpl:
# /usr/local/bin/wacomcpl
Or you can put wacomcpl in you System/Preferences/Hadware/wacomcpl
for easy way to run this tool.

One thing you will notice is that XMMS isn't listed anywhere in our menu although we know we installed it. That's no problem, only the XMMS menu entry is missing. Let's create it:

P.S. Now, no need for recompiling those kernel modules by hand
every time yum updates your kernel.
You can get upgrade you linuxwacom driver to more powerful v. linuxwacom-0.7.8-3
and take comfort work with wacomcpl
FNHi, sounds awesome.
I'll definitely try it when I get home
Update: tried and it seems to be working.
After installing the prebuilt binaries, the installer complained at me that I *might* need to rebuild the wacom kernel module. After restarting X, it seems to have worked.
I'll add it to the HOWTO sometime when it's not 3 in the morning![]()

Fry-Kun,
A very big THANKS for compiling (and maintaining!) this How-to. Just got my Graphire4 working on F7.
Thank you for your tuto, but unfortunately, it doesn't work "out of the box" for me :-)
In order to pass the GDM crash when the tablet is unplugged, I had to modify the xorg.conf to replace "/dev/input/wacom" by "dev/input/uinput-wacom".
By doing this, my graphire 4 work very well.
You can also get the new driver version from the fedora development repo.Originally Posted by Fry-kun

bump because I just updated the HOWTO for Fedora 8![]()
Out of curiosity, anybody gotten this thing to work across a bluetooth?

Not directly with Fedora, but I've known people that have gotten theirs to work with Ubuntu and SuSE.Originally Posted by leadgolem

Really? I don't suppose you could point me to a thread/how-to? Even if it is for another distro I might be able to adapt the techniques.
BTW: I don't have any problem getting the system to see my tablet as a bluetooth mouse.

You may want to check the Linux-Wacom mailing list archives, I believe you can consult them from the project's site at linuxwacom.sf.net![]()

A little searching session and here's a promising result:

Mind you, I don't have a bluetooth tablet, so I can't really tell you if it works (properly) or not...
Hmm, I was hoping not to have to build/package. Oh well. Thanks.
EDIT: It just seems like you should be able to link the bluetooth input to the wacom linux driver...
