gDesklets wont start.. what am I doing wrong?

I downloaded gdesklets and all dependencies with the yum extender. When i goto applications>accessories>gdesklets i get the hour glass and the task bar says starting gdesklets but then it just dissapears and nothing happens... does it run in the background? i looked at my running proccesses but didn't see it. If it does run in the background... how do i install new desklets?

Try to start it from the terminal, does it give any errors there?

Please make sure that the required software is installed.
Also try to avoid having multiple versions of a library/binding on your system.

applications->Add/remove software-> search button, search for python(or pyorbit) and install it.

i have it already, but its a newer version. it keeps telling me that i need an older version of a file i already have installed.

It won't let me install it, it keeps saying that a newer version is already installed. When I try to remove the newer version it want to remove everything that is dependent of it. Which is alot like system-clock-config and a bunch of other important looking stuff.

Then I guess you will need to wait for an updated version of gdesklets

Try to do the following command:

rpm --oldpackage -Uvh /path/pyborbit

Which version of gdesklets did you use? If the latest updated caused the same issue, I will investigate the problem. It looks like there is a glitch on the build system.

I had to run it from terminal the first time, now it works from the desktop

Can anyone try to install gdesklets on FC4 to see if there is a similar problem? I appears the issue is specific on Fedora Core 5.

anyone know why every time I start firefox from the gdesklets starter bar I get sent to the Univ. of Arizona web page? It's not my set homepage.. I put a desktop launcher for it to see if it did it there too, but it doesn't...only from the gdesklets starter bar
