    how-to for Mailman Configuration

    Here is a start to a how-to for Mailman Configuration (this is a work in progress):
    1. /sbin/chkconfig httpd on // make sure that apache is running
    2. /usr/lib/mailman/bin/mmsitepass // create the administrator's password for your site
    3. vi /etc/mailman/mm_cfg.py // edit the configuration file (actually a link to /usr/lib/mailman/Mailman/mm_cfg.py
    3a. I commented out the following lines
    # from socket import *
    # try:
    # fqdn = getfqdn()
    # except:
    # fqdn = 'mm_cfg_has_unknown_host_domains'
    3b. I edited the following lines (make sure you don't forget the single quotes or python will throw an error like
    NameError: name 'www' is not defined)
    DEFAULT_URL_HOST = 'www.yourdomain.tld'
    DEFAULT_EMAIL_HOST = 'yourdomain.tld'
    4. /usr/lib/mailman/bin/newlist mailman // a ``site-wide'' mailing list for password reminders; required for proper Mailman operation
    5. /sbin/chkconfig mailman on
    6. /usr/lib/mailman/bin/newlist name_of_your_list // fill in the values as prompted
    7. copy and paste the values printed on your screen at the end of your /etc/aliases // assuming you are using postfix or sendmail
    mailman: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman post mailman"
    mailman-admin: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman admin mailman"
    mailman-bounces: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman bounces mailman"
    mailman-confirm: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman confirm mailman"
    mailman-join: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman join mailman"
    mailman-leave: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman leave mailman"
    mailman-owner: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman owner mailman"
    mailman-request: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman request mailman"
    mailman-subscribe: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman subscribe mailman"
    mailman-unsubscribe: "|/usr/lib/mailman/mail/mailman unsubscribe mailman"
    8. /usr/bin/newaliases // assuming you are using postfix or sendmail
    9. check your work by browsing to:
    http://yourdomain.tld/mailman/listinfo
