Does anyone know sollution??? I found somwhere, that it is a mono problem and there is now no sulution because mono is very unstable release. Sorry for my english and sorry for my BAD linux knowledge.

I started using beagle in FC4 from version 0.1.4. At the moment I use 0.2.0. The evolution-dataserver backend has never worked for me either.

With version 0.2.0 I also encounter some random crashes of the search interface. I do not really know what to blame for this.

Also, I have encountered the problem that the beagle daemon stalls. This seems to happen when there is already a beagled instance running. So, I finally always start the daemon with:
    Code:
    beagled --replace
I have built beagle without support for the Evolution dataserver backend, so the --deny-backend EvolutionDataServer is not needed.

Here goes my story with the beagle installation. I have followed a different approach and created my own rpms for all the needed components. I did this just for experimentation purposes. On FC4, it was absolutely impossible to satisfy all the optional beagle dependencies, because newer versions of system libraries were needed.

In detail, apart from enabling the extended attributes for the /home partition, I currently have installed the following mandatory beagle dependencies (in the order I compiled and installed them):

    1. glitz v0.4.4 : (used by cairo) This is a super experimental backend for cairo. It is not really needed.
    2. cairo v1.0.2 (needed for mono - configured with --enable-glitz)
    3. mono v1.1.13.2 : All components included in mono and mono-devel packages. I guess it's not a crime for home usage/experimentation
    4. gtk-sharp v1.0.10 : everything included in one package
    5. gtk-sharp2 v2.4.0 : again all in one package
    6. gecko-sharp v0.6
    7. gecko-sharp2 v0.11
    8. gmime-sharp v2.1.19 : For beagle 0.1.4 the FC4 srpm (2.1.17) needed to be built with --enable-mono. For beagle 0.2.0 gmime 2.1.19 is absolutely needed and it compiled fine here.
    9. The rest of the mandatory dependencies exist in fedora repositories.

Here are some notes about the optional beagle dependencies:
    1. evolution-sharp v0.10.2 : Although it compiles ok and it is said to support the 1.2 evolution dataserver, beagle crashes when this backend is enabled, so I didn't even bother installing.
    2. galago-sharp : I did not bother with this either. I did not consider it as important, so I don't know if it compiles in fc4 or what other packages it may need.
    3. wv1 v1.0.3 from Fedora-Extras. I think it needs a patch in order to work with beagle.
    4. pdfinfo : Included in Xpdf
    5. ssindex : The fc4 package of Gnumeric is not built with --enable-ssindex, so searching spreadsheets does not work.
    6. gsf-sharp : This needed a newer version of libgsf. I tried upgrading from the rawhide, but it would require a total slaughter of the current system because of an openssl dependency, so I did not bother either.
    7. firefox : I use epiphany as my browser and so I had to compile epiphany-extensions 1.6.5, so that I could use the beagle epiphany extension.

Finally I built beagle 0.2.0 with the following:
    Code:
    	--with-mozilla=mozilla \
    	--with-x \
    	--enable-epiphany-extension \
    	--enable-epiphany-extension-install \
    	--enable-xml-dump \
    	--enable-libbeagle \
    	--enable-python
The spec files have been removed, as they had some unneeded dependencies. Also, I will not be editing them anymore as I have upgraded to rawhide and use mono applications from there.

I do not post all this as a solution, but rather as a story.
