systemd does have some promise, but without the cross system compatability it risks cutting Fedora off from the world of services - and it appears that is happening.
Whether or not the developers (or management) recognizes that remains to be seen, and whether they will respond to it.
The problems with the SysVinit startups could be fixed, but it would call for some rather major modifications to how that part of systemd is done.

smr54, even if the machine is not a critical one, it's a shame to put systemd by default where it's not fully compatible with LSB scripts. How someone who uses fedora as a netabook to check his twitter account or send emaills only will react when after F16 update his machine won't reboot ?

nevermind, enough is enough, after 12 years of redhat -> fedora -> ??? I say bye bye Fedora and redhat also
