Hi JoeF.
I suppose you either didn't see or didn't understand right my post located here: http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showth...21#post1228821 .
However, what you have to do now is:
1. Open a terminal;
2. Become root;
3. Paste in the terminal the following command:
Code:
echo "options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5" >> /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf
4. Reboot.
Hope this will be ok for you.
Regards,
P.L.

You were correct sir. I didn't understand and I didn't see in your posts that one simple line like
echo "options snd-hda-intel model=hp-dv5" >> /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf
I did as you said below and my sound is back. Thank you.
I believe now my FC11 is back to at least how my FC10 was before the update.
regards,
JoeF

OK, so I did some digging on this. Much indebted to Daniel Chen (Ubuntu's sound guy) for the info. Turns out that your case (should be) covered from ALSA 1.0.20 onwards: there was a big rework of the IDT/Sigmatel bits between 1.0.19 and 1.0.20. Unfortunately this means that backporting the fix to our ALSA (the drivers in F11 are ALSA 1.0.18a) isn't straightforward; just backporting the quirk mapping probably won't fix it, as the quirk definition itself got changed too. So, practically speaking, the fastest way it's likely to get fixed is when F11 goes to kernel 2.6.30, which it's planned to do. That has ALSA 1.0.20 and so should handle this situation.
So, well, that's that story. Sorry I can't do a quicker fix.

The quicker option is to get the source of the 1.0.20 version of alsa and to compile it for your version of the kernel - it works without problem for me - look at the driver version here: http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=37...5650215bf2610b . To get the latest stable alsa release - just go here: http://www.alsa-project.org/main/index.php/Main_Page and get it with whatever else you need.
Good luck!

P.L.
