As Derek says, it would be a very good idea to add a "me too" to the fedora bug report and briefly describe your hardware/software setup (are you using 64 or 32bit?), maybe post the output of this command in the bug report as it may be relevant:
The more people report the problem the more chance of them fixing itCode:lshal | egrep "(system.hardware.(product|vendor|version)|system.firmware.version|power_management.quirk)"![]()

I found a fix for the backlight problem here: F11 Brightness Problem
Basically, add the following to the kernel parameters in /etc/grub.conf:
And if you still want the graphical boot screen then add this also:Code:nomodeset
While playing with these changes it is sensible to add a timeout value to grub.conf also so you can easily edit the boot config in case anything goes wrong...Code:vga=0x315
So my grub.conf looks like this:
Note, your kernel and initrd paths may look different depending on your partition setup and the UUID will definitely be different so don't copy it!! I am only showing the above so you can see where the "nomodeset vga=0x315" should go. Basically put it after "rhgb quiet" on the kernel line.Code:default=0 timeout=10 splashimage=(hd0,2)/grub/splash.xpm.gz hiddenmenu title Fedora (2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64) root (hd0,2) kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64 ro root=UUID=9efa16ed-8e34-4e88-9d7e-253fd5f9b43c rhgb quiet nomodeset vga=0x315 initrd /initrd-2.6.29.4-167.fc11.x86_64.img
That fixes it entirely for me... backlight even dims when I unplug the power. Let me know how you get on.
(Any chance a mod could change the title of this thread to include the backlight issue since we kinda got off topic here!)

You may want to try some other values as 0x315 sets the framebuffer to 800x600 16M colours which is the best setting for the Samsung NC10 netbook, but your Macbook should be able to use a higher resolution, maybe 0x318 which is 1024x768 16M which I think is the closest you can get to 1280x800 (that is the MacBooks screen resolution right?).
Actually after installing the nvidia driver described in Chris blog, I can enter nvidia display setting and change it. Though i still cannot modify via the keyboard, its more than good enough for me. But that is after i enter the session, it still bright in login screen. Oh btw the volume control broken in KDE, but fine in GNOME.

For the trackpad, you might try the steps from Ubuntu's guide - https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ma...aunty#Trackpad....
Install the bcm5974 driver, blacklist usbhid so that it never gets loaded, ?????
I found this thread looking for fixes for my trackpad, and was excited to see a fix for the backlight, but I still have problems. I would try the test kernel to fix the track pad, but I don't quite understand how to download it, can someone explain?
I also found that nomodeset was already set in grub.conf. I tried putting the parameters in the order suggested, but I still can't change the brightness. I am using the newest MacBook Pro, designated 5,3, and I guess there are additional issues. Any suggestions?
I think that also don't fixed my display (but it do change my boot screen). How do we install the bcm5974?

I am using the testing 2.6.29.5 kernel and the touchpad works. Is there a way to turn it off automatically when a mouse is plugged in or via an option somewhere. Unfortunately there is nothing in Mouse -> Touchpad options.
Good news!
I applied the updates that came through tonight and the basic functionality of the touchpad works!
Now, I'm wondering how to start configuring it for the two finger right click and scroll. It would be awesome to get three and four finger control as well. I'm going to check out that Ubuntu link you suggested, nstickney, and see what happens. In the meantime, if anybody has any suggestions or experiences, I'd love to hear about them!
System -> Preferences -> Mouse -> Touchpad -> Enable two finger scrolling. That seems to also enable two finger clicking etc.
