There are many threads about sound in F10, F11.

There are 3 or 4 apps to get sound going on F10.
For F11 some older codecs just will not work.
I just got sound on F11 for my intel865bgf board with the gmixer - a replacement for F10's volume-control.

But My SB Live value on the Pent III via Apollo-133 will not work in F11.

Check your menus for all the sound and mixer settings. F10 will most likely work ok.

    Seconded.

I have a HP tz2x Touchsmart (multitouch tablet/hybrid) which will not play sounds, despite everything in ALSA being unmuted and full blast (I've since turned them back down in case I do finally get them working at 4 in the morning )

I can't hear Hulu, which will display the video. If, when watching hulu, I open Sound Preferences => Applications I can see a control for ALSA Plugin [npviewer.bin] with a volume control. If no sound producing things are running, it says there aren't.

It won't play sound from Jamendo either, but it is clear that the song is playing.

I did a bunch of stuff from here but to no avail...

It is acting like something is muted, but I, for the life of me, can't figure out what it is. I even ran alsaunmute in the terminal.

try this in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf : (you'll have to create the file, probably)

    Code:
    options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=toshiba position_fix=1
worked for me on a HP tx2500, I guess that the tx2X have the same audio hw.
