KNemo 0.5.1 released.
http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show...?content=12956
Changelog:
Improvement of dialog size/position saving leads to bug - when KNemo windows will be opened/closed several times they goes to the bottom of screen.* added Ukranian translation, thanks to Sergey Panasenko
* fix build on Gentoo
* lots of little fixes to the traffic plotter dialog
* fix sorting statistics for months/years
* statistics dialog scrolls to the most recent item again
* improve how dialog size/position is saved and restored
* Set reasonable limits on numeric values in the config dialog
* remove horizontal line count setting in config dialog; no longer relevant
* change some behavior of the config dialog
* The first time it is run it does not create a default list of devices; manually clicking "Defaults" will still create a default list though
* tweak how various sections of the dialog become enabled/disabled depending on the settings
* tooltip stats are now dynamically updated
* config dialog now searches for icon sets on startup. This lets users install their own custom sets.
You can drop your own custom icon sets in $KDEHOME/share/apps/knemo and they will magically appear in the config dialog the next time you run it.
A complete icon set contains the following 22x22 png files:
[iconset name]_connected.png
[iconset name]_disconnected.png
[iconset name]_incoming.png
[iconset name]_outgoing.png
[iconset name]_traffic.png
So I decide to remove this patch until better solution will be found.

zip archive with knemo-0.5.1-2.fc10.x86_64.rpm
zip archive with knemo-0.5.1-2.fc10.src.rpm
It is necessary to choose icons in config dialog after apdate.

KNemo-0.5.1-1.fc10.i386 looks good here. Thanks nucleo!
The "Statistics" dialog box: column width and horizontal scrolling are a little goofy, but I almost never look at that dialog.

Upstream update knemo-0.5.1-2.
Fix event handling makes working event notification like connect/disconnect of network interfaces.- Fix the config dialog so it preserves our new position and size settings
- Don't use deprecated /sys/class/net/*/wireless
Deprecated in the 2.6.27 Linux kernel. Sysbackend now uses libiw to
check link quality and whether or not a device is wireless
- Fix event handling
- backends check access point for wireless encryption status
Unpriviledged users are unable to get the encryption status of the
wireless card, So following the advice from here:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=433061
KNemo's nettools backend now uses iwlist to check the encryption status
of the associated wireless access point. It turns out that it wasn't
too complicated to do the same with system calls for sys backend.
Note: I'm using left-over wireless scan results. It seemed overkill to
do a new wireless scan at every poll period just for the encryption
status. And right after we associate with a new access point, the
relevant info should already be available.
- Clean up handling of dialog position and size
It is necessary to update event notification configuration after update and resize some windows for better look.
knemo-0.5.1-2.fc10.i386 looks good here on F9 & F10. Thanks nucleo!
If someone at Fedora Project does not adopt KNemo soon as per bug/feature request, I can ask to have it added to my stuff at AJRPMs. As long as you feed me RPMs nucleo, I'll sign and upload them....
Of course, it would be preferable to have KNemo in official Fedora Repos.
Thanks,
V
Is notification works when interface was (dis)connected?
Are KNemo windows appears exactly at the same position where was closed?
Ok. I have other packages which are absent in any Fedora repository.
For example some of kde/extragears are absent. I build rpm for Skanlite - (Bug 479147) simple KDE4 scanning application.
I noticed that there is in bugzilla other component "Package Review".
May be it is necessary to change component in Bug 487791 to "Package Review" if it possible?
Last edited by nucleo; 11th March 2009 at 08:46 PM.
Yes: exact same (Traffic Plotter and Statistics) windows positions and sizes saved and used, exactly where I put them before.
Yes: Default Notification pop-up works fine, both network up and network down. Looks good!If Fedora Project and/or KDE-RedHat Project does not want to offer them (or: does not add them in a timely manner), then yes: we can arrange to add to AJRPMs repo.Umm... not sure. I will check. Will respond when I know more info.
Thanks Again!
V
P.S. I have been working on the KDE4 port of kio_gopher. Almost done....
EDIT: I don't think that "Package Review" is the correct tag: I think "Package Review" is only if you want to be the new, official maintainer.

Is it real for ordinary Fedora user to bacame new official maintainer?
Instructions to make package review and make fedora account are too difficult.
I changed component back to knemo.

I don't see any interfaces so everything is greyed out I obviously still have a connection, what can that be about?
Try: right-click on knemo sys-tray icon and select "Configure ...". Then configure knemo.
V
CONGRATULATIONS, nucleo on your first package as a Fedora Maintainer!
KNemo submitted for updates-testing: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/knemo
I don't have a knemo icon in my systray
OK, try: open System Settings configurator and go to "General"=>"Network and Connectivity"=>"Network Settings"=>"Network Monitor"=> and check the box: "Use KNemo to monitor your Interfaces", select options, tooltips, Misc, & etc., then click "Apply".
V
EDIT: You did yum install knemo, right ?
When last version KNemo started first time it is necessary to add interfaces which KNemo would be monitor in configuration dialog like say Hlingler (press "+" there to add, type interface like eth0, ppp0 or other) and no problems with icons in this case.
But if previous version was installed and run and then updated to the last version it is necessary to update configuration and choose icons for each monitored interface.

By default there is nothing listed in last knemo version.
You should press "+" under interfaces list and add interface eth0 or any other interface.
