Lets call normal user 'nick'

relevant line in /etc/group is now:
wheel:x:10:nick

Login as nick

Attempt anything which required...

Having now established that I am in the wheel group I have the same problem that the Authentication window still doesn't work, always returns false despite the password being correct.

'wheel' group does exist in /etc/group and both user and root are included in it

Solution now found:
Logged on as root
Changed user password
Now Authentication dialog works fine again.

Edit again:
Forget that, worked for a bit but now fails again. This is very flakey.

Not using the gui because I can't as the authentication dialog does not work.

Trying to do from command line with 'usermod nick -G wheel' which appears to succeed with no errors but 'groups wheel'...

Have tried both root and user passwords neither work.

Group wheel does not seem to exist.

Sorry it does exist but has no members
...

Not sure about this 'groups wheel' returns...

Authentication window has stopped working

When I try and unlock a settings window, say Firewall, the Authentication Required window appears, I enter the correct password but it is not accepted. Just responds with 'Sorry, that didn't work....

Fedora virtual machine under hyper-v - high CPU

I have a CPU issue with Fedora 20 virtual machine running under hyper-v. With the vm running but not visible CPU on my hyper-v host is around 1%, however as soon as the Fedora vm window is opened...

No more clues than that, it happens every time. I boot using Fedora 20 live DVD, click on install to hard drive, get the error above then nothing else happens.

Instruction followed, I hope I am now using the nvidia drivers. However gnome still reverts to gnome2 fallback mode. I have looked through Xorg.0.log but cannot find any reason for this to revert...
