Trouble installing Xfce GlobalMenu on F15

I tried installing the Globalmenu Xfce panel applet, and it returned:

xfce4-globalmenu-plugin-0.7.9-1.fc15.i686 requires libxfce4panel.so.1

What I've found through Google suggests that that's...

Re: What is the Best Linux Game?

Warsow.

It actually has inventive game-play, rather than just being a poorly rehashed FOSS version of concepts from commercial FPS games.

Re: 10 best Linux distros for 2011

Fedora is just for experts? Darn, I guess I should leave. It was fun while it lasted. :p

Re: linux alternatives....????

(I'm assuming you're using the Gnome 3 shell, and not the fallback mode.)

Hit the activities corner (top left), and click applications. Then find System Settings. Click on Printing.

Aside from...

Re: linux alternatives....????

I don't know about that particular printer, but most will work with Linux natively. I can help you a bit with how to go about doing that if you'll tell me a couple things. 1) What desktop environment...

Re: linux alternatives....????

Wine, Crossover, PlayOnLinux and Cedega are the only ones I know of. PlayOnLinux is really just a front end for Wine.

To my understanding PlayOnLinux is your best bet for the reasons listed here:...

Re: In what FOS OS(es) you are interested other than gnu/linux

I've had a look at Linux and BSD, but I can't really see the point. What's wrong with Windows?

Re: Fedora Useragent

Thank you. I like your direction as well. I was considering going with something contradictory, but then I decided to just be humorously outdated.

Re: Why haven't you dropped Windows?

I actually like Windows, and I don't care about free or open source software. I don't go to restaurants and demand they tell me all of their secret ingredients, and I don't see why software should be...

Re: In what FOS OS(es) you are interested other than gnu/linux

Don't spend your money on Red Hat for personal use. If all you want is the longer support cycle, go for Cent OS or Scientific Linux.

Re: Evolution limited to 12-hour day

I had a similar problem with Evolution settings not saving properly. While this is very rarely the answer, my problem seemed to disappear after I restarted my machine. Perhaps you'll be lucky and...

Re: F15 and Gnome2 - Fork?

If you hate reinstalling so frequently (though, really you can go a year in Fedora, which still isn't much, but it's better than 6 months.), you may wan't to try the testing branch of Debian....

Re: It's all in your perspective.

Most vulnerabilities aren't in Windows itself, but 3rd party applications. And most malware doesn't rely on security holes in the software, but click happy users that can be suckered into downloading...

Re: 2 questions about migrating to Linux

If you have decent Google skills, Fedora is pretty easy going. I know how to do everything I need, but I'm by no means an expert. Just be sure to enable the RPM Fusion repositories if you choose...

Re: What is virtualbox?

It supports multiple cores. Gaming with it, however, is incredibly inefficient.

Here's how gaming normally works:

Your hardware runs your operating system.
Your operating system runs the...

Re: What is virtualbox?

Virtual box acts like a separate computer within your computer. You can install just about any operating system on it. If you install windows on it, you can use it to run any application for that...

Re: very new to linux etc ...

To comfortably install things you're going to need a version of Fedora that hasn't passed it's end of life. Fedora needs to be updated about once every year at least, as versions tend to be supported...

Re: F15 and Gnome2 - Fork?

You'd be better off changing desktop environments than distributions. Gnome 2 is at its end of life. It won't be too long before it's gone from every distribution.

You can probably keep it for the...

Evolution not saving calendar settings (F15, Xfce)

Re: How to enable compiz fusion in fedora 15

If you want to use Compiz and you like Gnome 2, but you're using F15, I'd suggest giving Xfce a try. The fallback panels in Gnome 3 are worthless. You can't customise them, and all the panel applets...

Re: ClearOS 6.1 Alpha 1

Okay, then it seems I've misunderstood. I was of the impression that ClearOS Enterprise was a recompiled RHEL. Is that not the case? And if that is the case, my next question would be regarding the...
