Fedora 12 Release Candidate 4

Fedora 12 RC4 is available for download at

http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/stage/12-RC.4/

Submit your installation test results to

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Test_...12_RC4_Install

Adam Williamson from Fedora QA team has more notes at http://www.happyassassin.net/2009/11...2-crunch-time/

At this stage, Fedora 12 is in a deep freeze and only very critical updates will be pushed into the main repository before the release with everything else coming in as updates.

Please run yum update first before filing any bug reports. To file bug reports, refer to

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Bugs_and_feature_requests

If you want to discuss the latest Rawhide, you can post to the Fedora 12 Alpha/Beta forum here or to fedora-test list or join us at #fedora-qa (NOT #fedora) channel in irc.freenode.net

Code:

$ yum repolist

fedora    Fedora 12 - i386    enabled: 15,366

Happy testing!

You would think that they should call it i686 now instead of i386....

Droidhacker,

Release engineering doesn't think it is worth the effort. It is just cosmetics anyway.

Whole USB stack is broken for USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family), for example HP 6830s uses this.

if your mouse is dead on install, boot with option intel_iommu=off

Fedora 12beta LXDE

I tried out Fedora 12 LXDE
on a Toshiba Centrino core2duo, 1280x800 LCD pretty standard...
got blank screen after startup.

Regular release 12 works fine on this machine.

I would like to know if there is a switch/key I can press on startup to change screen modes or something.

I tried to create a x86_64 Live USB from the Live CD image using the live-usb creator (and unetbootin).
The image does not boot on a Toshiba Satellite that has Fedora 11 (x86_64) installed. The error message is:

[drm: drm_mode_rmfb] *ERROR* tried to remove a fb that we didn't own
Boot has failed, sleeping forever.

We believe we have fixed this problem in the -127 kernel update and a few people have positively confirmed this issue.

Thanks for reporting this issue. Please test and confirm if you can.
