Auto starting apps

Hi,

This question has probably been covered lots of times, but I can't find a decent search string to use to look it up...

How does one make certain apps or scripts run at startup or when a user logs in? I'm assuming there's a script i need to edit somewhere or a directory to put them in, but I'm damned if I can find it!

Hello:
Have you had a look at /System/Preferences/More Preferences/Sessions/Startup Programs

I can't seem to find that, if it helps, I'm running a Gnome desktop

Then run the command gnome-session-properties and see the Startup tab. Same thing.

Thanks for the tip, jman, but when I try gnome-session-properties (as root), I get:

Code:

** (gnome-session-properties:3290): CRITICAL **: gsm_protocol_new: assertion `GNOME_CLIENT_CONNECTED (gnome_client)' failed

** (gnome-session-properties:3290): WARNING **: Could not connect to gnome-session.
[root@localhost /]# gnome-session-properties

** (gnome-session-properties:3303): CRITICAL **: gsm_protocol_new: assertion `GNOME_CLIENT_CONNECTED (gnome_client)' failed

** (gnome-session-properties:3303): WARNING **: Could not connect to gnome-session.

Are there no scripts that are executed at every login I can edit? Or maybe a directory I can put things in to get auto-started?
