View Full Version : any way to change tx power for atheros?

Hi all

Just got my wifi running (madwifi) on my thinkpad and I have a concern regarding the transmit power with this card on FC5. It seems very weak. The quality of the signal is rather poor compared to that in Windows and in gentoo as well.

Sitting from the same location, all other things being equal, my atheros card only gets a 28/94 signal quality in FC5 but a nice 72/94 in gentoo.

I'm using madwifi in gentoo as well and never had problems with it. In Fedora, on the other hand, I cannot connect if WEP encryption is on in my router (get a constant timeout while obtaining an IP) which leads me to believe that "dhclient" is the one responsible and is messing things up. Could it also be an influence on the transmitting power??

Regardless, is there a way to increase the transmit power on the atheros card?

thanks!
